Learn intermediate computer skills with the guidance of our technology instructor. Using Windows 10, this class covers a variety of topics including identifying keyboard shortcuts, using the control panel, removing programs, backing up files and more. Writers’ Workshop<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join local writers as they meet each month to practice, share and discuss various literary art forms including poetry, short stories, novels, memoirs and plays. All are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Word and Excel Basics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our technology instructor provides a basic introduction to Word and Excel for new users. Using Microsoft Office 2016, learn how to create and save documents, format pages, change fonts and create basic spreadsheets. Space is very limited and registration is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Media Basics<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are tweets and status updates? How do I video chat with family and friends? Our technology instructor teaches essential skills to make use of today’s top social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Skype. Space is very limited and registration is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toddler Tales<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For ages 18 – 36 months. This interactive and active time for toddlers and their caregiver is designed to advance prereading and social skills. They’ll experience storytelling, wordplay, felt board stories, fingerplays, puppets, singing, music-making, socializing, dancing and, of course, books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baby Rhyme Time<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 & 11 a.m.<\/strong> Wednesdays, Dec. 4, 11<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For babies through 18 months. During this special storytime, you and your baby will learn new nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books and dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preschool Storytime<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 a.m.<\/strong> Thursdays, Dec. 5, 12<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For ages 3-5. Children attend this program independently while the caregiver waits nearby. Your preschooler will continue to build relationships with other kids, books, and the library in a storytime designed specifically for them. The stories and activities are more complex, but just as fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kids Read Down Fines<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 \u2013 5 p.m.<\/strong> Thursdays, Dec. 5, 12, 19, 26<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 \u2013 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only and applies only to charges on overdue materials. Please bring your library card.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family Storytime<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For children through age 5. Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of prereading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEAM Saturday<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 p.m.<\/strong> Saturday, Dec. 7<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us for family-friendly STEAM exploration. Each month will feature a different activity based on the aspects of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. This is a great opportunity for parents and kids to build, learn and play together. For grades K-5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R.E.A.D. to Dogs<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 a.m.<\/strong> Saturday, Dec. 14<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

R.E.A.D. companions are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner\/handlers as a team to help improve the literacy skills of children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polar Express Reading<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 p.m.<\/strong> Monday, Dec. 16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Families with children are invited to kick off Polar Express Week at East County Regional Library with a reading of \u201cThe Polar Express.\u201d Come in your pajamas and enjoy an hour of stories, songs and a craft related to \u201cThe Polar Express.\u201d Registration is suggested as space is be limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polar Express Stuffed Animal Sleepover<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 p.m.<\/strong> Tuesday, Dec. 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children in grades K-5 are invited to join us for a Polar Express themed stuffed animal sleepover. Come and decorate a “train car” bed for your stuffed animal to spend the night in at the library. We will provide the craft supplies, you just need to bring your imagination and your stuffed animal friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polar Express “Tea” Party<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
