The\nfirst Community Dance is being held by First Christian Church of Lehigh Acres\nto introduce the new pastor to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\nare looking so forward to having it,” Maralyn Waline, a member of the\nFirst Christian Church, said. “We are trying to get the community to know\nus a lot better. This is our first program that we are planning. We are going\nto be planning quite a few things.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nCommunity Dance will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, on the campus\nat Faith Lutheran Church, 705 Leland Blvd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admission\nand refreshments are free but organizers ask that you call so they can get a\nhead count. The church asks that those interested call by Tuesday, Aug. 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\nwant to give the vendor plenty of time to make sure they have enough\nproduct,” said Waline, who can be reached at (239) 368-4222.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe’s\nDog House and Catering will serve hot dogs, chips and drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ndance will have music by DJ Judy, who has been a DJ for many years in the\ncommunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She\nwill be playing a variety of different music. You will be able to find any kind\nof music that you like. We are going to have line dancing,” Waline said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waline\nsaid she would also like for the community to meet the Rev. Libby McManis, the\nnew minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“She\nis such a beautiful person,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McManis\nbegan her career in the Kentucky state government for 20 years before she\nfinally answered her calling. She attended Lexington Theological Seminary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has\nfour grown daughters and seven grandchildren. She moved to Florida with her\nhusband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Since\nmoving to Florida I accepted this call from Lehigh Christian and I am very\nexcited,” McManis said. “I started on April 1. It’s been absolutely\nwonderful. These church members are the kind every minister wants. This church\nhas a true sense of community. I have served some really large churches. It is\nalready my favorite one because of that sense of community and welcoming. They\nare hungry to learn about scripture and get close to God. Since I have been\nthere, there has been a renewed energy and a sense of heading in the right\ndirection for their theology and that inclusiveness that we live out.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\nsaid this is the first time she has ever been to Lehigh Acres and she just\nloves the area due to its diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\ncame from the middle part of Kentucky, the blue grass and horse industry area.\nThis of course is gorgeous too on a totally different level,” McManis\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\nsaid she is excited for the Community Dance and her opportunity to meet the\ncommunity, as well as the community meeting all of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\nwould love to meet more people in the community other than my church\nmembers,” McManis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First\nChristian Church of Lehigh Acres has a Bible study at 9:45 a.m. and service at\n11 a.m. on Sundays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
