{"id":43721,"date":"2019-07-06T14:22:26","date_gmt":"2019-07-06T18:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=43721"},"modified":"2019-07-06T14:22:41","modified_gmt":"2019-07-06T18:22:41","slug":"lee-county-is-planning-to-develop-a-highly-functional-park-in-lehigh-acres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2019\/07\/lee-county-is-planning-to-develop-a-highly-functional-park-in-lehigh-acres\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee County is planning to develop a highly functional park in Lehigh Acres"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lehigh Acres wants to take an empty piece of land and develop it\ninto a highly functional park, in an attempt to bring more activities and space\nto a place that has a fast-growing population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"393\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/park-project-2-696x393.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43722\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/park-project-2-696x393.jpg 696w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/park-project-2-696x393-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan is to purchase about 50 acres of land right off Village\nLakes Boulevard, on this land they want to build a new football field, complete\nwith locker rooms, restrooms, and a concession stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The area around the field will feature walking trails, picnic\nareas, and extra parking space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The county says the major reason for this development project is\nsimply a lack of space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/park-project-696x371.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43723\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/park-project-696x371.jpg 696w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/park-project-696x371-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLittle league and football, and we also have a growing soccer\ncommunity out there and right now they\u2019re sharing the baseball fields,\u201d said\nJess Lavender, Director of Lee County Parks and Recreation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very difficult for the leagues to co-exist and we\u2019re trying\nto alleviate that by building more fields.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They hope to start the design phase of this project in October,\nand construction the year after.
