Walmart employees\u2019 vests are getting a bold makeover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signature blue vests that Walmart employees<\/a> have worn for years will be replaced\nwith a modern gray look<\/a> with a neon blue, green or pink trim.\nWalmart last redesigned its uniforms in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company announced the changes<\/a> Wednesday during its annual shareholders meeting.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new vests will be made from recycled bottles and have\nbigger pockets than previous vests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vests are \u201cneutral\nsteel gray,\u201d<\/a> and most associates will wear bright blue trim.\nAssociates at Walmart\u2019s smaller Neighborhood Market stores will wear green\ntrim. Self-checkout hosts at Walmart Supercenters will wear yellow with gray\ntrim. And in the future, Walmart says employees will be able to choose other\ncolors, including pink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur new vests have a modernized style that takes advantage\nof trim detail and screen printing to introduce color in an eye-catching way,\u201d\nWalmart said in a release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said the neon color will help customers more\neasily spot Walmart associates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each vest is stitched with a \u201cproud Walmart associate\u201d on\nthe front and a newly colorful \u201cspark\u201d logo on the back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The larger pockets will let associates \u201ccarry all the\nequipment they need to do their jobs on the sales floor.\u201d Employees will\nreceive the vests later this year for free and will be able to upgrade them\nwith specialized designs or trims for up to $11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new vests come a year<\/a> after the company announced a\nmore relaxed dress code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workers can now wear any solid-colored shirt. Walmart added\nblue to the mix of approved pants colors, making blue jeans work-appropriate\nattire. Walmart said the response to those changes have been \u201camazing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
