You may have seen Mike Magnant, a Lehigh Acres man, who\npicks up trash on the side of the road in Lehigh Acres neighborhoods, all in an\neffort to keep the area looking good. Now he says he’s in a little bit of a\njam. His cart he normally uses to pick up that trash, broke down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magnant started picking up trash in Lehigh Acres about a\nyear and a half ago, with his daughter and his dog Freddy. His 30-year-old cart\nwould be another addition to the trio and a very efficient way to pick up more\ntrash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“10 to 20 times more area that I can cover especially\nin the heat like this, so you can roll right up on trash pretty quick and clear\nthe area really fast,” Magnant said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magnant says his cart has been out service for a couple of\nweeks, the battery is shot, and the brakes need to be repaired. He says the\ntotal cost would be around $1,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So Magnant took to social media and started asking for the\ncommunity\u2019s help. So far, they\u2019ve met half of the $1,000 goal, but Mike says\nmore help is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All it takes is one real supporter to go ‘hey I can afford a\n$1000 a year to keep your cart on the road,'” Magnant said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike says this old cart just needs a touch-up, then he and\nFreddy can back to work, more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019ll take whatever we can get. I mean we\u2019re just doing\nit for free and we\u2019re doing it for fun and we\u2019re trying to set a good example\nso it doesn\u2019t cost any many to be kind,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
