{"id":43231,"date":"2019-06-03T09:50:24","date_gmt":"2019-06-03T13:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=43231"},"modified":"2019-06-03T09:50:46","modified_gmt":"2019-06-03T13:50:46","slug":"special-election-on-june-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2019\/06\/special-election-on-june-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Election on June 4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"284\" height=\"177\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Special-election.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43232\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On the ballot Tuesday June 4 is a single question that asks\nvoters if they support a new fire fee system for the Lehigh Acres Fire Control\nand Rescue District&nbsp;that will charge the charge for fire and ems services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new plan sets a base fee of $165 per lot, whether there\nis a building on the parcel or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lots where a building has been constructed&nbsp;would be\nassessed $1 for every $1,000 in improvement value.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Documents show that the Chief officers of the Lehigh Acres Fire Department will be receiving a 5% pay raise on Oct 1, 2019, and an additional 5% Pay raise on Oct 1, 2020. <br> <br> Also, documents show that the Firefighters of the Lehigh Acres Fire Department will be receiving a 4% pay raise on Oct 1, 2019, and an additional 4% Pay raise on Oct 1, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If voted in this fire fee assessment puts 10 millions extra in the hands of the fire commissioners each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This special election cost the fire dept nearly $200,000 in\ncost and legal fees.
