{"id":42751,"date":"2019-05-09T07:59:25","date_gmt":"2019-05-09T11:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=42751"},"modified":"2019-05-09T09:59:53","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T13:59:53","slug":"lehigh-acres-fire-board-threatens-2-voters-with-removal-and-arrest-at-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2019\/05\/lehigh-acres-fire-board-threatens-2-voters-with-removal-and-arrest-at-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Acres Fire board threatens 2 voters with removal and arrest at meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At Wednesday, May 8, 2019, special fire&nbsp;board meeting two voters tried to get the board to answer questions concerning the new fire fee assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"299\" height=\"168\" src=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/lehigh-Acres-Fire-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42752\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The questions had to deal with the exemptions to the fire fee assessment &#8230; The voters found out that the board does not have the resolution done. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resolution is the document that tells the Lee County tax collector who is able to get an exemption on the fire fee assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The voters complained &#8230; &#8220;You want us to vote for this assessment but you as a board does not know who will be exempt or not&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, four of the five Lehigh Acres Fire Commissioners are exempt for the current fire fee assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The board members refused to answer the voter\u2019s questions and\ntold the two female voters to leave or the board would call the sheriff office\nand they would be removed and arrested.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is this the way a local government should treat constituents? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were only six people that can to the meeting from the\npublic.
