Matt Caldwell, Mike Welch, David Deetscreek, Ken Thompson, Mike Bonacolta and Katy Hoover<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Dec. 12, residents and business leaders attended the special installation ceremony for the Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District&#8217;s board of commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place at its regular meeting, the Seat 1, Seat 3 and Seat 5 commissioners were installed.<\/p>\n<p>Carley Brantley, LA-MSID&#8217;s event coordinator, said Commissioner David Deetscreek served as the master of ceremonies for the evening.<\/p>\n<p>State Rep. Matt Caldwell presided over the Oath of Office ceremony for Seat 1 Commissioner Michael Welch, Seat 3 Commissioner Kenneth Thompson and Seat 5 Commissioner Katy Hoover.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Hoover was newly elected to the board in the November election, while Welch and Thompson were re-elected, according to LA-MSID District Manager David Lindsay.<\/p>\n<p>The LA-MSID is a multi-county Chapter 189 district created by the state to provide drainage and flood control; conservation and mitigation; irrigation; navigation; and limited parks services to Lehigh Acres and western Hendry.<\/p>\n<p>It is governed by a five-member, publicly elected board of commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>According to Brantley, the district manages and maintains an expansive water management system comprised of 311 miles of canals, 20 lakes, 1298 preserves acres, several parks and a variety of infrastructure, such as 360 culverts, 22 bridges and 66 water control structures, within 70,000 acres.<\/p>\n<p>She said moving water to meet varying conditions and needs is essential to sustaining the local environment.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was held at LA-MSID, at 601 East County Lane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Written by LA-MSID Staff On Dec. 12, residents and business leaders attended the special installation ceremony for the Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District&#8217;s board of commissioners.
