If the answer is yes then you are in luck. The East County Regional Library will be hosting activities for the whole family the whole month of December. There is something for everyone to enjoy. Below is the roster for the whole month of December: East County Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:<\/p>\n Adult Programs<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n Beginning Computer Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n Part 1: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2<\/p>\n Part 2: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9<\/p>\n A technology instructor will cover a variety of topics including using a mouse, establishing an email account and using library online resources. Space is very limited and registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sky and Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2<\/p>\n Learn the basics of astronomy and what you need to get started. This hands-on workshop will demonstrate how to use free software and inexpensive telescopes and binoculars to explore the night sky.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I Can Do That! Craft: Holidays in Your Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3<\/p>\n Don’t let Santa have all the fun this season. Bonnie Frato will teach patrons how to bring glitz and glamour to their holiday decorations with festive holiday swags. Sponsored by Friends of the East County Regional Library. Registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Book Discussion: \u201cNevermore\u201d by Laird Hunt<\/strong><\/p>\n 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5<\/p>\n Follows the experiences of Ash Thompson, who becomes a folk hero after she abandons her farmer husband and disguises herself as a man to go fight for the South during the Civil War. Registration is required.<\/p>\n Chess Anyone?<\/strong><\/p>\n 4 p.m. Mondays, Dec. 5, 12, 19<\/p>\n Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Chess enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. Bring your own chess set or use one of ours. Sponsored by the Friends of the East County Regional Library.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n English Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n 6 p.m. Mondays, Dec. 5, 12<\/p>\n Free, informal conversation sessions for adult ESOL\/ESL students.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Intermediate Computer Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6<\/p>\n Learn intermediate computer skills with the guidance of a technology instructor. Using Windows 7, this class covers a variety of topics including identifying keyboard shortcuts, using the control panel, removing programs, backing up files and more. Space is very limited and registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There’s A (Library) App for That!<\/strong><\/p>\n 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6: e-books and Audio e-books<\/p>\n 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13: Movies, Music and More<\/p>\n Learn about some of the free apps you can use to take library content on the go. Class participants should bring their app-enabled mobile device and know their library card information to get the most out of this class. Registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Writers’ Workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6<\/p>\n Join local writers as they meet each month to practice, share, and discuss various literary art forms. Meetings may vary to include classes, speakers and readings. All are welcome. Registration is requested.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Scrabble Club<\/strong><\/p>\n 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10<\/p>\n Put your word-building skills to the test with Scrabble enthusiasts of all levels. Using Office 2007, learn how to create and save documents, format pages, change fonts and create basic spreadsheets. Registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Social Media Basics<\/strong><\/p>\n 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20<\/p>\n A technology instructor will teach essential skills to make use of today’s top social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Skype. Space is very limited and registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Download Drop-in<\/strong><\/p>\n 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20<\/p>\n Receive personalized help downloading e-books, movies, music, and more from the library’s online library. Bring your tablets, phones, e-readers, and other digital devices for a hands-on help session. Registration is required.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Storytime<\/strong><\/p>\n Baby Rhyme Time<\/p>\n 10 a.m. Thursdays, Dec. 1, 8<\/p>\n During this special storytime, you and your baby will learn new nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books and dance.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Family Storytime<\/strong><\/p>\n 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Dec. 1, 8<\/p>\n Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Toddler Tales<\/strong><\/p>\n 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7<\/p>\n This interactive and active time for toddlers and their favorite caregiver is designed to advance pre-reading and social skills. They\u2019ll experience storytelling, wordplay, felt board stories, fingerplays, puppets, singing, music-making, socializing, dancing and, of course, books.<\/p>\n Preschool Storytime<\/strong><\/p>\n 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7<\/p>\n Your preschooler will continue to build relationships with other kids, books and the library in a storytime designed specifically for them. The stories and activities are more complex, but just as fun.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Children\u2019s Programs<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kids Read Down Fines<\/strong><\/p>\n 4 \u2013 5 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 8, 22<\/p>\n Children and teens can earn a credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session.
