Traffic on Gene Avenue is blocked off near the scene close to 38th Street West, where a fire truck from Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District was also present. The investigation was still ongoing as of 7 p.m. Sunday, when a Fort Myers Fire Department truck arrived on scene, and officials from that department said they\u2019d be sending their own hazmat team.<\/p>\n
All agencies departed the scene by 9 p.m. last night<\/p>\n

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has recovered a “potentially hazardous substance” Sunday during the search of a home in Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n
A federal judge approved the FBI search at the home, which is owned by William and Celeste Lee, according to Lee County Property Appraiser records.<\/p>\n
The home is located near Gene Avenue North off\u00a0of 38th Street West, which was closed while law enforcement raided the home.<\/p>\n
A HAZMAT team\u00a0retrieved the substance from the Lehigh home will be sent to a lab for analysis.<\/p>\n
An FBI agent on the scene said there was no danger posed to the public and didn’t know exactly how long they’d be in the area.<\/p>\n
FBI state this is still an active investigation.<\/p>\n
The FBI provided the following updated statement:<\/p>\n
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Hazardous Material Response Unit recovered a potentially hazardous substance during today’s authorized search of a home in Lehigh Acres in Lee County. The substance is being sent to a lab for analysis. The HAZMAT team followed all\u00a0protocols to ensure the safety of employees and the public.\u00a0This is still an active investigation; no further details can be released.”<\/p>\n
