{"id":41443,"date":"2016-10-14T13:54:39","date_gmt":"2016-10-14T17:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=41443"},"modified":"2016-10-14T13:54:39","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T17:54:39","slug":"pot-search-leads-to-illegal-moonshine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2016\/10\/pot-search-leads-to-illegal-moonshine\/","title":{"rendered":"Pot Search Leads To Illegal Moonshine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-41444\" title=\"Roger Wierengo\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Roger-Wierengo-256x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"256\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Roger-Wierengo-256x300.png 256w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Roger-Wierengo.png 369w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/>Lee County Sheriff Detectives discovered a large illegal moonshine still in a Lehigh Acres home this week while investigating a marijuana grow house operation.<\/p>\n<p>The bust was made in a home in the 1400 block of Congress Avenue on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office report, a deputy noticed suspicious activity at the home and called for backup. \u00a0Deputies then saw Roger Lee Wierengo, Jr. leave the home with a marijuana plant. \u00a0After apprehending Wierengo, deputies noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the home.<\/p>\n<p>A search warrant was issued, and detectives found one bedroom equipped with marijuana grow house equipment, one plant, several clippings of plants, and 10 plant clones.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the kitchen, detectives found a large copper distill, about 8 feet tall, and about 50 pint jars of alcoholic liquid inside a refrigerator. \u00a0The word &#8220;moonshine&#8221; was written on the side of the refrigerator with a price list underneath.<\/p>\n<p>Wierengo was arrested and charged with possession of illegal liquor, liquor manufacturing, marijuana possession, marijuana producing, resisting arrest, and possession of weapon by convicted felon.<\/p>\n<p>Wierengo\u00a0remains in the Lee County Jail on $118,000 bail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lee County Sheriff Detectives discovered a large illegal moonshine still in a Lehigh Acres home this week while investigating a marijuana grow house operation.
