12th Street West in Lehigh Acres<\/a> was burglarized on February 29 sometime between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\nWhen the victim discovered the burglary he watched the surveillance video from cameras around his house.<\/p>\n
The video showed the suspects’ car and two men burglarizing the house.<\/p>\n
A few days later, the victim saw a car that looked very similar to the car used during the burglary at a shopping center on Lee Boulevard.<\/p>\n
The victim took photos of the car and took them to the sheriff’s office. A video expert helped get the surveillance video from the victim’s computer and entered the surveillance video and the victim’s pictures of the car into evidence.<\/p>\n
A detective investigating the burglary watched the surveillance video. He noted the make and model of the car the suspects were in as a maroon Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with dark tinted windows. The car was missing a fin from one of the hubcaps and the door handle on the interior of the vehicle on the driver’s side didn’t work, reports said.<\/p>\n
The detective tracked down the vehicle using information from the victim and located a maroon Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with a missing fin on the hubcap and broken interior door handle, reports said.<\/p>\n
The owner of the vehicle said she loaned it to a relative. That relative said she and her boyfriend were the only ones who drove the vehicle. She identified her boyfriend as Chas Mendez Powell, according to reports.<\/p>\n
Detectives spoke with Powell and he gave them a statement regarding the burglary of the home on 12th Street West.<\/p>\n
Powell was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary to a dwelling, two counts of grand theft, and two counts of possession of burglary tools.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
