Deputy James Wright admitted to hugging and kissing a 26-year-old woman in May, as well as rubbing her back and groping her buttocks underneath her clothing, according to the report.<\/p>\n
Wright claimed it was all consensual, but the sheriff\u2019s office deemed it a violation of agency policy.<\/p>\n
From the Sheriff\u2019s Report:<\/p>\n
It stated that Lehigh Regional Hospital called for a deputy\u00a0May 24\u00a0to help with a woman who’d\u00a0“eloped” out of her room and wasn’t letting medical staff help her\u00a0\u2014 a 26-year-old woman\u00a0had a minor head injury after she drank a bottle of wine and tripped over her dog \u2014 so LCSO Deputy Wright gave her a courtesy ride home, the report said.<\/p>\n
When they got to the\u00a0Lehigh Acres\u00a0home, Wright walked her in\u00a0to help the woman find her dog. She was crying about the incident at the hospital, so\u00a0Wright hugged her “repeatedly telling her she was a good girl and everything would work out,”\u00a0the report said.<\/p>\n
She told investigators she thought the deputy was “just being nice” at first.<\/p>\n
Wright said the hug was to console her but he “(felt) the vibe of the encounter changing.”<\/p>\n
The pair gave conflicting stories to investigators about what happened next, but both agree that they kissed and Wright grabbed her buttocks under her pants.\u00a0She said she pulled away and he said he realized it was inappropriate, so they stopped.\u00a0Then he asked for her phone number and left.<\/p>\n
Investigators looked into the possibility of a criminal charge but found no such evidence\u00a0and said the encounter was\u00a0consensual.<\/p>\n
When asked why he thought the woman came forward the next day,\u00a0“Deputy Wright surmised (the woman)\u00a0reported the incident because he didn’t call her,” according to the report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
