The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office is confirming that the person of interest in the Diana Alvarez Amber Alert, Jorge Guerrero, is being detained.<\/p>\n

In the early morning hours of June 4, 2016, Lee County Sheriff Office detectives, along with our Law Enforcement partners in this non-stop investigation, tracked Guerrero down in a neighboring County.\u00a0 Locating Guerrero did not resolve the case as Diana was not with him. \u00a0Investigative teams remain deployed while we communicate with a host of Agencies as this investigation continues.<\/p>\n

While we appreciate and are thankful for the general public and media\u2019s interest in this heart wrenching case, Diana\u2019s safety is paramount.\u00a0 We will not get ahead of ourselves in this active investigation by putting out too much, too soon, jeopardizing her safe return. Further updates will be made available whenever possible.<\/p>\n

Update #7<\/p>\n

The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office is updating our media partners \u00a0that the tan Chevy Malibu from the Diana Alvarez Amber Alert has been located.\u00a0 This was as a result of aggressive investigative efforts.\u00a0 This locating of the vehicle did not lead to the recovery of Diana or the person of interest Guerrero.\u00a0 The LCSO wanted the citizens at large to know that the need to look for this specific \u00a0car is no longer necessary as we have it now in Law Enforcement custody.<\/p>\n

At the moment we are not commenting on where the recovery took place as efforts are still underway.\u00a0 A large gathering \u00a0of media would give away Law Enforcement\u2019s presence in the area diligently trying to discover where Diana and Guerrero are. \u00a0\u00a0It is possible that they remain on the move and so a broad area would continue to need diligence from many eyes of the public \u00a0and not a specific area of narrow focus.<\/p>\n

The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office is working this case in lock-step solidarity with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and our Local State and Federal partners.\u00a0 The flow of information about this missing nine year old female, Diana Alvarez, and the person of interest, Jorge Guerrero, \u00a0is seamless between the LCSO and the FDLE.<\/p>\n

Update #6<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier today the Major Crimes Unit of the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office efforts in the around-the-clock investigation of Diana Alveres\u2019s disappearance, led to \u00a0a Florida AMBER Alert being issued through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.\u00a0 Diana Alvares was last seen in the 3500 block of Unique Circle in Fort Myers, Florida, wearing a short-sleeve shirt and shorts.<\/p>\n

Diana may be in the company of Jorge Guerrero. Guerrero has ties to the Orange County and Okeechobee County area. They may be traveling in a tan Chevrolet Malibu, FL tag number 78NHD.\u00a0 The investigation and continuing efforts to locate Diana are very much still underway.<\/p>\n

Update #5<\/p>\n

The staging area for Law Enforcement and Urban Search and Rescue Teams has been secured.\u00a0 After a massive and exhaustive search in a several mile radius around Diana Alveres\u2019s home it has been determined that there is no evidence to suggest that she is in the area.\u00a0 Leads coming in from concerned citizens and other investigative avenues are actively being pursued and at this point we cannot comment on them.<\/p>\n

The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office and our\u00a0 Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement partners remain dedicated to Diana.\u00a0 Our investigative teams remain in the field, and will leave no stone un-turned in the aggressive investigation into Diana\u2019s disappearance. \u00a0\u00a0Further updates to follow when available.<\/p>\n

Nine-year-old Diana Alvares is still missing.\u00a0 Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers continues to receive tips regarding Diana\u2019s whereabouts.\u00a0 The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office is asking for the public\u2019s help in locating Diana.\u00a0 If anyone has any information about Diana\u2019s current location, please call the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office at 239-477-1000<\/a> or 911.<\/p>\n

Local, state, and federal agencies are continuing their search efforts through the evening hours.\u00a0 The search has covered a ten-mile radius in 90-degree weather.\u00a0 A Code Red reverse 911 call has been sent out in a 2-mile radius around the residence of Diana contacting surrounding communities asking for vigilance.<\/p>\n

Members of the public have asked how they can assist with the search for Diana. Please stay alert and continue to call in any possible sightings to the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office or Crime Stoppers right away without delay.<\/p>\n

The American Red Cross has been a partner in assisting in this massive undertaking.\u00a0 The American Red Cross is on-scene and has provided food and water to 200 search team members.\u00a0\u00a0 Please support the American Red Cross as they support the Law Enforcement Community by visiting their website at www.redcross.org<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Update #3<\/p>\n

Over two hundred federal and \u00a0local law enforcement officers have joined the search for 9yr-old Diana Alvares in the San Carlos Park area. This search\/investigation is very much active in the area with the use of foot patrols, ATV\u2019s, Aviation, K-9, and the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office Dive Team.<\/p>\n

While we are receiving tips in Diana\u2019s whereabouts, they seem to be coming in after the sightings. The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office is asking that if anyone knows the whereabouts of Diana or spots her, please call 477-1000 or 911 immediately so we can dispatch a deputy to that location.<\/p>\n

The Spanish Media, Telemundo of Fort Myers, is meeting with the Sheriff\u2019s Office to further push the information deeper \u00a0to the Hispanic community as we continue to search for clues into Diana\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n

The Lee county Sheriff\u2019s Office remains driven to locate Diana and will utilize every resource available.\u00a0 In addition to the $1000.00 reward from Crime Stoppers, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has agreed to pay an additional $5000.00 for the safe return of Diana.<\/p>\n

The search and investigation continues for 9 year old Diana Alvares in the San Carlos Park Community of Lee County.<\/p>\n

There is no<\/span> additional information concerning the missing child, however, the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office and other agencies \u00a0remain vigilant in their search.<\/p>\n

Also a \u00a0\u201cParent Link\u201d was issued by the Lee County Schools System (English and Spanish) in an attempt to reach out to even more potential witnesses for any information concerning Diana\u2019s disappearance.<\/p>\n

Update #1<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office, with the help of multiple agencies, (FBI, FDLE, Florida Fish and Wildlife, Collier and Charlotte County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Airport Port Authority, and the Department of Homeland Security), are continuing the search for a missing San Carlos Park child.<\/p>\n

While no new information is readily available, deputies and searchers on scene continue to investigate for clues and information in the disappearance of 9 year old Diana Alvares. We do know that Diana did not have any electronic devices on her when she left the home, nor did she participate in social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter according to the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office Digital Forensics Unit.<\/p>\n

While Diana does not meet the criteria set forth by law for an Amber Alert, all methods and means are being utilized by authorities to locate her. Attached is an additional photo of Diana for dissemination.<\/p>\n
