<\/a>Medications play an important role in treating certain conditions and diseases, but they should be taken with care. Unused medications must be disposed of properly to avoid harm to wildlife, pets and people.<\/p>\nOn Wednesday, March 14th from 10 am until 2 pm the Lee Count y Sheriff\u2019s Office along with Abby Services Inc will be kicking off a series of Operation Medicine Cabinet events scheduled to take place throughout the county during 2012 with a goal of educating everyone in our community about safely disposing of their medications and the importance of keeping them off of our streets, out of our landfills and water systems.<\/p>\n
\u2022 All medications must be in a sealed container.<\/p>\n
\u2022 We cannot accept sharps (needles)<\/p>\n
\u2022 Collected medications will be safely incinerated<\/p>\n
CVS Pharmacy has joined us in our campaign to make Lee County safer by donating some red Sharp containers. Limit one per family; supplies are limited.<\/p>\n
While you are dropping off your unused medications please stop by and get your free blood pressure check and have a car \u201cfit\u2019 performed. CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles \u201cfit\u201d them. It\u2019s quick and simple and provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance the safety of drivers.<\/p>\n
Please make plans to join us on Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 from 10 am until 2 pm as the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office collects unused or expired medications at our headquarters located at 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33912.<\/p>\n
If you are unable to make it to this location you can also stop by any of our district offices and drop off your sealed medications in one of our secure drop boxes.<\/p>\n
