Nowadays, it\u2019s also known for its crime. Sheriff Scott believes crime is \u201cEverywhere USA\u201d and \u201call relative\u201d and the victims usually have criminal pasts.<\/p>\n<p>I disagree. Many of victims of crimes each year in SWFL are not criminals. Plus, as cops, we have a duty to protect everyone in our community.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of blaming victims of countywide crime, let\u2019s look at the Sheriff\u2019s Office. A $160 million dollar budget but no considerable salary raises in nearly 10 years. We\u2019re over 35 deputies short on road patrol and losing more to better paying jobs by the week.<\/p>\n<p>Some local police at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.LEOAFFAIRS.com\">www.LEOAFFAIRS.com<\/a> \u00a0believe the only way to get ahead at LCSO is to pay for a promotion by joining the \u201c$1000 club\u201d. Curiously, the Sheriff\u2019s campaign donation list and recent LCSO promotional list nearly match up.<br \/>\nWhat happened to promotions based on years of service and achievements?<\/p>\n<p>Morale among LCSO deputies is low. They struggle on $35,294 a year while working a dangerous job for days on end and can barely afford to pay rent or give their kids a nice Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time for a new sheriff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lee County is historically known for its natural and cultural beauty.
