This was my experience at The Wings of Freedom. It was amazing! I was lucky enough to talk to several people about the planes. One guy in particular is a WWII vet. He is 91 years old. His name is Francis Moll. He was a tail gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress. I asked him if it was fun being in the air. He said no because every time they went up it was for a reason. And when they were in the air they were always alert, focused, and prepared for battle.<\/p>\n

Moll and I also talked about the position of the tail gunner. He said that the tail gunner was the most responsible and the most important part of the plane. The reason is because enemies would sneak up behind the plane. If the tail gunner was shot out then everyone else on the plane would possibly die because the sphere on the top can\u2019t aim very low and the bottom sphere can aim up high. Also the two side guns towards the back of the both left and right sides wouldn\u2019t be able to shoot it down. So that\u2019s why in his opinion and mine the tail gunner is the most important gunner on the airplane.<\/p>\n

There was another man at the show. He was a volunteer there. He stood by the B-17. His name was Charles Wheatley. I never got his age when I was talking to him. He is one of the lucky people to fly in a B-17 without being in the military or being the pilot. He did tell me where he works. He works at the airplane museum in Tampa. He is a pretty cool guy.<\/p>\n

The B-17 is a nice plane. I got to walk through the plane and see a lot of the control systems. It can hold up to 12 people all altogether. It has 7 torrents. It can hold up to 4 big bombs on each side. Or it can also drop several tiny bombs at a time. It is a pretty good plane in a lot of people\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n

The other plane is called the B-24J Liberator. I didn\u2019t meet anyone to talk about the B-24J. This airplane has 5 torrents. It is a very small bomber plane. It holds about 3 big bombs on each side. It is a pretty nice little bomber plane. It has very little space inside. All together it is a nice plane.<\/p>\n

This is my favorite plane of all. It\u2019s called the P-51 Mustang. It is a little plane. It holds up to two people in the cockpit. Since it is a tiny plane it cannot drop off bombs. The plane is my favorite because it is a close combat plane. It can fly as low as 15000ft and as high as 30000ft. It is a very good plane and many people love this plane.<\/p>\n
