During his tenure as Lee County Commissioner, Judah championed the designation of 96,000 acre<\/p>\n<p>Density Reduction Groundwater Resource Area of SW FL, co-founded the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed Land Trust and spearheaded the effort to establish the Conservation 20\/20 Program to protect our critical water resources, open space and wildlife habitat. He assumed a leadership role in the efforts to protect the Caloosahatchee and coastal estuaries by advocating for restoration of the historic southern flow-away to the Everglades and responsible management of Lake Okeechobee, provided key contributions to the expansion of SW FL International Airport and building infrastructure including a myriad of roads, parks, utilities and libraries; championed the comprehensive\u00a0 Lee County Solid Waste Management Program which includes Waste-to-Energy Facility that provides electricity to over 40,000 homes in Lee County and the Recycling Program that exceeds the state minimum requirement of 30% waster volume reduction.\u00a0 Mr. Judah served as laison with federal, state and local agencies or officials on issues pertaining to natural resources issues, and throughout his career has written articles, commentaries and spoken on behalf of land and water issues affecting SW Florida!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->For all his efforts, Judah has received many awards including &#8220;Florida Audubon Society Award&#8221;, Environmental Public Service Award&#8221; from Keep Lee County Beautiful; &#8220;Most Outstanding Public Official&#8221; from Estero Community Coordinating Council; &#8220;Champion of Environment&#8221; by Gulf Shore Life; &#8220;Pathfinder Award for Vision and Leadership&#8221; by Urban Land Institute; &#8220;Person of the Year Award&#8221; by Estero Chamber of Commerce; &#8220;Theodore Roosevelt Award for Resilience, Resolve and Courage on Behalf of Florida&#8217;s Environment&#8221; by Florida Audubon Society; named amongst &#8220;125 Influential Locals&#8221; by The News Press and many others.<\/p>\n<p>Please come join the\u00a0 Lehigh Kiwanis Club weekly breakfast this\u00a0coming Wednesday\u00a0at\u00a07:00 a.m.\u00a0held in the Community Room at Hope Hospice, 1205 Wings Way, off of Beth Stacey Blvd., Lehigh Acres, as our guest.\u00a0 Lehigh Kiwanis Club is a very active organization that performs many services throughout the local area, including many programs such as Key Club in local high schools, Ackton Clubs, K-Kids and Builders&#8217; Clubs&#8211;instilling leadership and providing many scholarships for many local students annually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ray Judah, Coordinator for the Florida Control and Ocean Coalition, spoke recently during the Lehigh Kiwanis weekly breakfast held at Hope Hospice, 1205 Wings Way.
