And nearly 230 of those were served in the first hour.<\/p>\n<p>The Rotary Club works year-round to host the dinners at St. Raphael Church. Two\u00a0dozen Rotary Club members cook for days to feed as many as 600 people.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\u201cIt may be someone who can\u2019t afford a meal. It may be someone\u00a0that lives alone, and would like to have a social Thanksgiving, and we don\u2019t think anyone should be alone on Thanksgiving,\u201d said Mike Buff.<\/p>\n<p>Rotarians cooked 28 turkeys, made 50 pounds of dressing, and baked dozens of pies. They know the economic recovery has been slow to reach\u00a0parts of Lehigh.<\/p>\n<p>Smiles were present everywhere,\u00a0as the Rotary Club members received many thanks for their work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re exhausted; you don\u2019t ever want to see another turkey. But then, someone will come up to you, I had a lady come up to me and tell me how much she appreciated it, she didn\u2019t have family,\u201d said Dick Gretchen to Wink TV.. \u201cI say to myself, that\u2019s why I\u2019m doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Acres Rotary Club won\u2019t be taking a break,\u00a0already planning to serve free meals at St. Raphael on Christmas Day also.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lehigh Acres Rotary service project provided Thanksgiving meals to nearly 600 people in Lehigh Acres on Thanksgiving Day.
