{"id":37207,"date":"2015-09-30T20:26:54","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T00:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=37207"},"modified":"2015-09-30T20:26:54","modified_gmt":"2015-10-01T00:26:54","slug":"lehigh-senior-football-coach-reassigned-pending-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2015\/09\/lehigh-senior-football-coach-reassigned-pending-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Senior Football Coach <br>Reassigned Pending Investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News-Press Writer David Dorsey is reporting:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37208\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37208\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-37208\" title=\"james chaney\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/james-chaney-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/james-chaney-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/james-chaney.jpg 534w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-37208\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">James Chaney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lehigh Senior High School first-year\u00a0football coach James Chaney has been removed from his positions at the school\u00a0and has been replaced by Mike Farley, the team&#8217;s\u00a0first-year defensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>The Lee County School District has declined to explain Chaney\u2019s removal, other than stating in an email he has been reassigned, pending an \u201cinquiry with professional standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chaney, who is also an\u00a0exceptional student education teacher at the school, did not coach in last Friday\u2019s 29-28 loss to Island Coast\u00a0and has not returned calls seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh principal Jackie Corey has declined to comment due to district protocol regarding personal standard inquiries\u00a0as to why Chaney, whom she hired, has been removed.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Farley, who said he was named interim coach last week, also has been leading practices this week as the Lightning (0-4) prepare to play host to the Fort Myers Green Wave (3-2) in a District 6A-11 matchup at 7:30 p.m. Friday at James Adams Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Chaney also did not coach two weeks ago, as he was suspended under Florida High School Athletic Association rules because two of his assistants left the coaching box during a game. That\u00a0called for an unsportsmanlike penalty and Chaney&#8217;s one-week suspension for the actions of his assistants.<\/p>\n<p>Farley said he vowed to his bosses he would not discuss Chaney\u2019s reassignment.
