The divestiture is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2015, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.

The Company does not expect the divestiture to have a meaningful impact on financial operations. Following the divestiture of Lehigh Regional Medical Center, Community Health Systems affiliates will continue to operate 25 hospitals in Florida.”

CHS, one of the nation’s largest hospital operators, acquired Lehigh Regional as part of its $7.6 billion takeover of Naples-based Health Management Associates in 2013.

Ontario, California-based Prime Healthcare has agreed to hire “substantially all employees” to their existing positions and pay when the buyout is complete, with recognition of employee seniority. It earned one out of five stars for overall patient experience, the lowest score for any hospital in Lee or Collier County.

Only 50 percent of patients said they would definitely recommend the hospital to others. The average for all other Lee and Collier hospitals for this measure is 71.6 percent.

Those ratings aside, the Joint Commission, the hospital’s accrediting agency, cited the hospital in 2013 as a “Top Performer” when it comes to heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

“Our hospital has a long-standing tradition of providing personalized care and quality healthcare services for patients,” said Lehigh Regional’s interim CEO, Tom Marshall, in that statement. “All of our caregivers are committed to service for the individuals who come to us for care and our broader community.
