\"\"It’s a parent’s worst nightmare.\u00a0A highly unpredictable drug responsible for bizarre and dangerous behavior is now being disguised as candy.\u00a0 Fortunately, deputies with the\u00a0Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Unit intercepted the batch and prevented it from hitting the streets of\u00a0Lee\u00a0County.<\/p>\n

This morning,\u00a0a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Unit\u00a0was patrolling Interstate 75 with his\u00a0K9 partner Cole.\u00a0\u00a0 The deputy observed a Chevrolet Sonic following another vehicle too closely and conducted a traffic stop.\u00a0 The driver of the Sonic, a rental car,\u00a0notified the deputy that his license was suspended for drug related charges.\u00a0 During the stop, K9 Cole alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

A clear plastic zip lock bag, that at first glance appeared to contain sour patch gummy candy, was found to be much more when it was determined to be infused with illegal narcotics.\u00a0 Field tests revealed that the “gummies” actually contained Methylone, a schedule I drug.\u00a0 Approximately one-quarter pound of the drug was seized during the stop.<\/p>\n

As a result of the stop, the driver was arrested.\u00a0 He is identified as Brandon Lee Willis (DOB 3-8-81) of\u00a017189 Terraverde Circle, Unit 11,\u00a0Fort Myers.\u00a0 Willis is charged with:<\/p>\n

*Possession of a controlled substance Methylone<\/p>\n

*Possession of drug paraphernalia<\/p>\n

*Driving while license suspended\/revoked 5th offense<\/p>\n

Willis is no stranger to law enforcement.\u00a0 He has been booked into the Lee County Jail more than thirty times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
