\"\"Are you planning a road trip this summer? If so, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit encourages you to follow these simple, common sense safety tips to help ensure your getaway is packed with good times:<\/p>\n

Before leaving home, make sure all deadbolts are locked, lights are left on timers, and deliveries such as your newspaper\/mail have either been cancelled, or will be picked up daily by a trusted neighbor.<\/p>\n

Be careful about \u201cChecking in\u201d at your vacation location on your social media accounts. Even if you only befriend people you trust and keep your account private, it\u2019s important to realize you are advertising to the world that you won\u2019t be home for a specified amount of time.<\/p>\n

Consider taking only two credit cards; keeping one in your wallet and leaving the other in your hotel room safe.<\/p>\n

Make sure everyone in your travel party \u2013 adults, teens and children \u2013 has the name, address, and phone number of the place you are staying.<\/p>\n

Keep your hotel room key in a safe location so it can\u2019t be picked up by a stranger at the pool or restaurant.<\/p>\n

When inside your hotel room, keep the deadbolt in place to prevent uninvited guests from entering.<\/p>\n

While traveling, lock your vehicle at all times and keep suitcases and valuables locked in the trunk. When thieves see suitcases, they think tourists, and tourists carry cash, credit cards, and computers.<\/p>\n
