When deputies arrived, they found Gary Helms, deceased on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>LCSO did an investigation and on March 18 forwarded the case to the State Attorney&#8217;s Office. Then on March 24 the State Attorney&#8217;s Office completed its review and determined the case constitutes a Justifiable Homicide and declined prosecution of Anita Borcher.<\/p>\n<p>Borcher acted in self-defense, according to LCSO&#8217;s investigation, when she was confronted that night by Helms, her husband, who was in a rage. Borcher told authorities she was in fear for her life during the altercation.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff&#8217;s office says that according to the SAO&#8217;S finding, Borcher was justified and acted within the scope of the law in using deadly force to defend herself.<\/p>\n<p>The Helms family has been contacted by the lead detective and advised of the SAO&#8217;s findings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0homicide case earlier this year in Lehigh Acres has been deemed justifiable, according to the Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.
