Lee County Emergency Management suggests the following cold weather precautions:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Do not use charcoal or gas grills inside. They produce deadly carbon monoxide. \u2022 Be careful with space heaters. Keep them away from flammable items such as curtains and upholstery. Inspect the heater and electrical cord before use. Do not use extension cords or heaters with defective power cords. \u2022 Make sure smoke detectors are working. \u2022 Check on neighbors, friends and relatives. The elderly and children are especially vulnerable to cold temperatures. \u2022 Stay indoors or dress warmly, in layers. Wear a hat if outside. \u2022 Bring pets inside. \u2022 Cover outdoor plants and bring potted plants indoors.<\/p>\n<p>The following cold weather shelters will be open tonight: The Salvation Army 2476 Edison Avenue Fort Myers Registration begins at 7 p.m. Fort Myers Rescue Mission 6900 Mission Lane Fort Myers Must be in Chapel before 7 p.m. Personal cold weather supplies will be available through: CCMI Cold Weather Street Outreach Multiple Locations- Map attached 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight is expected to be clear and cold with a low around 40 degrees and light wind.
