{"id":33069,"date":"2014-10-06T21:15:25","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T01:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=33069"},"modified":"2014-10-06T21:15:25","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T01:15:25","slug":"lehigh-acres-rotary-hands-out-thesauruses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2014\/10\/lehigh-acres-rotary-hands-out-thesauruses\/","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Acres Rotary <br>Hands Out Thesauruses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thesaurus Days kicked off recently as the Rotary Club of Lehigh Acres, assisted by volunteers, were greeted by the children and facility at the Veterans Park Academy for the Arts.<\/p>\n<p>The children were brought to the cafeteria to receive their very own thesaurus.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1158\" title=\"rotary\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/rotary.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"220\" \/>Once the children were seated, club President Mike Neven gave a short presentation explaining that Rotary is a community service organization made up of businessmen and professionals. They do work within their communities, as well as internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The local club provides dictionaries to all third-grade students and thesauruses to all fourth-grade students attending public schools in Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the club will give out over 1,600 thesauruses to fourth-grade students attending the nine elementary schools in the Lehigh. This is approximately 150 more books than last year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The books are provided at no cost to the students or schools.<\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Rotary is the only club that hands out thesauruses in Lee County.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth-grade thesaurus project supports G.
