{"id":32508,"date":"2014-08-23T21:19:39","date_gmt":"2014-08-24T01:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=32508"},"modified":"2014-08-23T21:19:39","modified_gmt":"2014-08-24T01:19:39","slug":"tropical-depression-forms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2014\/08\/tropical-depression-forms\/","title":{"rendered":"Tropical Depression Forms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-32509\" title=\"TD+4\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/TD+4-300x240.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/TD+4-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/TD+4.png 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The fourth tropical depression of the season formed around 5:00 pm Saturday over the Turks and Caicos Islands.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane Hunters out investigating the storm determined the system had a well-defined center of circulation, even though much of its activity was displaced to the east of the center.<\/p>\n<p>TD #4 had winds of 35 mph and was moving in a general northwest direction at 12 mph, with a slight turn to the NNW expected late Sunday into Monday.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The storm will affect the Turks and Caicos, along with the southeastern Bahamas tonight. It will pass near or over the Central Bahamas Sunday into Monday as it moves into a break in the subtropical ridge of high pressure.\u00a0 The storm is expected to drop between 4 and 8 inches of rain, with isolated areas of up to 12 inches there.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the next 36 to 48 hours, the subtropical ridge is expected to strengthen to the east side of the storm sending it in a more northerly to northeasterly direction.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0majority of the the forecast models keep the storm to the east of the Florida peninsula, with only a few models bringing it out into the gulf.<\/p>\n<p>The forecast track from the National Hurricane Center has the farthest western fringe of the cone of uncertainty only brushing the Space Coast, and\u00a0not\u00a0making landfall in the state.<\/p>\n<p>That forecast track does have the storm potentially becoming a category one hurricane by midweek.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fourth tropical depression of the season formed around 5:00 pm Saturday over the Turks and Caicos Islands.
