During the service his step son Jason will be relocated to a new plot and will be placed near his step father Curt Middleton.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis P. &#8220;Curt&#8221; Middleton, 60, formerly of Lehigh Acres, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at his home in Mississippi. He suffered a heart attack Monday, June 17, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>He was an owner and executive editor of the Lehigh Acres Gazette newspaper, working with Robert Anderson of Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Longtime residents recall his presence in the community, where in the course of time he worked on the Lehigh Acres Citizen and the News-Star news staffs.<\/p>\n<p>He was in charge of all editorial operations on the newspaper and used his skills as a former newspaper publisher to help guide the business end, as well. He was also associated with news products in Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi and Tennessee, as well as Florida.<\/p>\n<p>He raised his four children in Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the operation of the two local newspapers, he was actively involved in Little League baseball, Pop Warner football and parents&#8217; associations supporting school activities like the Lehigh Lightning Marching Band.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Rebecca and Samantha; son, Jeremiah.<\/p>\n<p>He was predeceased by his step son, Jason, who was killed Jan. 20 2011, while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial services were held Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, Miss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A memorial service and entombment will be held on July 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home at\u00a0Lee Memorial Park 12777 Florida 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913.
