Local artist Douglas Patterson will teach 6-8 year old children at the Joseph H. Messina Children\u2019s Center, Fort Myers how to paint a picture on June 25th.\u00a0 Mr. Patterson will also be judging the Center\u2019s art show on August 12th<\/sup>.\u00a0 In addition, Patterson is one of 150 volunteers to paint outside murals on the walls at the Child Care of Southwest Florida.\u00a0 On July 17th<\/sup>, artist Patterson will have an art lesson and comedy show for children at the Learning Village Preschool at Faith Lutheran Church in Lehigh.<\/p>\n Mr. Patterson has also submitted a play for the Second Annual Clarence \u201cBud\u201d Jones Playwriting Competition held by the Firehouse Community Theatre of LaBelle.\u00a0 The competition welcomes full-length, previously unpublished plays, written by authors with a Southwest Florida connection.<\/p>\n Arts of the Inland is a 501(c)3 nonprofit umbrella arts organization.\u00a0 For further information and\/or membership application go to: www.artsoftheinland.com<\/a>\u00a0 or e-mail: artsinland@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0 or call: 239-303-5849.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Local artist Douglas Patterson will teach 6-8 year old children at the Joseph H. The Barron Library, 461 N. Main Street, LaBelle, is featuring AOI artist Donna Thewlis.\u00a0 Donna is an award-winning artist using powdered mineral fired on porcelain.\u00a0 Her artwork currently hanging at the Barron Library includes her piece entitled, \u201cPeek-a-boo,\u201d which won Honorable Mention at the Inspirations Art Show held April 6th<\/sup> in Lehigh.\u00a0 The judge\u2019s comments were: \u201cMasterfully rendered, soft portrait, high key handling of unusual medium, porcelain ground featured (not hidden).\u201d\u00a0 Ms. Thewlis\u2019 work will remain at the library for viewing until July 25th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
