Robert (Bob) Bell Barham, 84, passed away on June 11, 2014 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake, VA. \u00a0Robert was born on August 28, 1929 in Norfolk, VA, to the late Osma Porter Barham and \u00a0Elizabeth Gildea Barham.<\/p>\n
Bob was predeceased by his son, James Barham of Virginia Beach, VA; his close friends, F. M. and Jackie Durham of Virginia Beach and Melbourne Beach, FL; his brothers, Osma Porter Barham, Jr. and William Samuel Barham; and his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Barham, Mildred Gildea Dalton, and Ruth Ivo.<\/p>\n
Bob was a resident of Carova Beach, NC and Lehigh Acres, FL. \u00a0He was a Korean War Veteran and a long standing member of the Lake Drummond Lodge #178 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Chesapeake, VA. He was a founding member of the Carova Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Robert attended Old Dominion University and was the owner of ABC Printing.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his sons, Robert Barham of California, David Barham of Knotts Island, NC, and Fredrick Barham of Virginia Beach; his sister, Trudy Davenport of Virginia Beach and his brother, Herbert B. Barham of Phoenix, AZ. Bob leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by his loving goddaughter, Joanne Ellington and her husband James of Chesapeake, VA; his good friend, Todd Robinson and his family of Carova Beach, NC; and his friends, David and Jeannie Runyon of Lehigh Acres, FL.<\/p>\n
Bob loved the ocean, especially the little area at the north end of the NC Outer Banks. He enjoyed many years fishing, hunting, and crabbing there and cherished the friendships that were forged during that time. In recent years, he enjoyed living in Florida and had many friends there who will miss him. Bob loved people and was never happier than when he was hosting and entertaining friends and family. He was famous for always arriving early and for slipping away quietly and without fanfare. He retained these traits until the very end.<\/p>\n
