\"\"On Friday June 6, 2014, at approximately\u00a06:55 p.m., Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to State Road 82 and Shawnee Road in reference to a single vehicle crash. Due the nature of the incident, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Units responded to the scene.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, deputies conducted a crash investigation that revealed the following facts. A 2006 Mitsubishi was traveling east bound on State Road 82 at a very high rate of speed. The Mitsubishi left the roadway in a northeasterly direction of travel and went over 560 feet before striking a tree. The Mitsubishi then struck a second tree and rotated counterclockwise coming to final rest in trees and shrubs. During its impact with the trees the Mitsubishi burst into flames.<\/p>\n

The front seat passenger, Jessica Lynn Armstrong (DOB 09\/07\/93) of 4211 33rd Street SW, Lehigh Acers, was able to get out of the Mitsubishi without any injuries. The driver, Kasey Eileen Jackson (DOB 07\/22\/91) of 38101 Still Lane, North Fort Myers, sustained a serious head injury and was unconscious. A witness to the crash was able to\u00a0rescue Jackson out of the almost fully engulfed Mitsubishi. It was later discovered that Jackson had passed out or fell asleep while driving, which caused her to lose control of the Mitsubishi and crash.<\/p>\n

Jackson was trauma alerted and has life threatening injuries at this time. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash and the investigation is on going.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
