Do you have a shed, how about a swimming pool?<\/p>\n<p>Your Lehigh Acres Fire Department Commissioners wants to charge your.17 cents per square feet for what \u2026\u2026..residential property????<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Ballot Question<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-30608 aligncenter\" title=\"ballot question\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/ballot-question-e1398899798109.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"257\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So is it the 10,890 square feet of your quarter acre lot or is it the 2500 square feet of your home or is it the 1925 square under air of your home, what is it? The above ballot question so unclear, why?<\/p>\n<p>Who wrote the ballot question? The attorneys the fire board hired that\u2019s who!<\/p>\n<p>And most important thing in the ballot language doesn\u2019t mention that this new fee is INSTEAD of the current ad-valorem tax. The fire board\u2019s special attorney recommended not to include the additional language to remove ad-valorem into the ballot because \u201cyou may need the income one day\u201d. \u00a0Even the fire board\u2019s website has no mention of the promise by all the fire commissioners of only one tax, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lehighfd.com\/fire-fee-assessment\">http:\/\/www.lehighfd.com\/fire-fee-assessment<\/a> .\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">Is this the backdoor for double taxation?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">(<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 13px;\">PLEASE \u00a0NOTE THE CHIEF ADDED THREE MORE PARAGRAPHS TO THEIR WEBSITE AFTER THIS STORY BROKE.<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apparently the fire commissioners has still surplus money ($75,000 was budgeted just for the tax assessment consultants) to pay for such an incomplete deceptive addendum on the November ballot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Chief added the following the to their website after the\u00a0original\u00a0story broke:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;The main thing to remember is that the assessment fee will be replacing the fire taxes already paid by the residents.\u00a0 It IS NOT in addition to what they are paying now.\u00a0 The amount they would pay in the future could be greater or less than what they are paying today.\u00a0 They will only be paying or saving the difference between the two (2) fees.\u00a0 Currently, the District WILL NOT be charging a property tax (ad valorem tax) in addition to the assessment; this has been a point of confusion lately. \u00a0The current proposed voting ballot language\/question will be updated to reflect this information as well.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How big is your residential property?
