\"\"On\u00a0Thursday, April 24, 2014, at\u00a012:43 a.m., a call was received at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center about someone breaking into a home.\u00a0\u00a0The incident occurred at a residence in the 800 block of Clow Street East<\/a> in Lehigh Acres, Florida.\u00a0 Deputies responded to the scene within minutes of the call and engaged suspects while the crime was still in progress.\u00a0 The suspects were heavily armed and shots were fired.\u00a0\u00a0As suspects ran from the home, one subject was taken into custody, the others in\u00a0multiple directions.<\/p>\n

Additional units from the East District Patrol, K9 and Aviation\u00a0arrived to continue the search for the robbers.\u00a0 A second\u00a0suspect was\u00a0apprehended by a K9.\u00a0\u00a0He was transported to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and the\u00a0K9 bite.\u00a0\u00a0Two others were also found in the vicinity including another with a non-life threatening gunshot injury.<\/p>\n

Due to the nature of the incident,\u00a0detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major\u00a0Crimes Unit\u00a0assumed the investigation.\u00a0\u00a0Charges are pending on the four suspects currently in custody.\u00a0 The two deputies involved in the shooting\u00a0have been placed on administrative leave with pay as is standard protocol in such matters. Sheriff Scott has been in touch with\u00a0Sheriff Rambosk of Collier County to determine if there is any connection to recent robberies in their jurisdiction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
