Those that are interested in being holding this seat, can send their resume, or contact the board&#8217;s president, Tami Baker, to express their interest. She can be reached at LA Insurance on Lee Blvd. 239-369-6000 or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lehighacrescommunitycouncil.com\/\">http:\/\/www.lehighacrescommunitycouncil.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Board meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheriff&#8217;s station on Homestead Rd. (entrance and parking is through the back.) The public is always invited.<\/p>\n<p>Since Lehigh Acres is an unincorporated area of Lee County, only Lee County controls the activity, projects, funding and ultimately the growth\/or non-growth of Lehigh Acres. The &#8220;collective voice&#8221; of the Community Council (residents of Lehigh and appointed civic, social, and community officials) of Lehigh Acres is very important to &#8220;insure&#8221; Lehigh receives its fair-share of dollar allocation, and attention, from the Lee County governing body.<\/p>\n<p>The elected members are comprised of a group of volunteers from the community that share their talents and time, working in conjunction with many other organizations and sub-committees such as the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce (business development) and The Architectural Zoning &amp; Review Board, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>The common goal is for the betterment and overall improvements of Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of sub-committees that operate within the council on very interesting and important topics. As a member (or private citizen), you are welcome to join any one of these committees. Some of the council&#8217;s current committees are: Community Development, Roads and Transportation, Parks and Recreation, Beautification, Code Enforcement, Health, Education &amp; Welfare, Youth Activities, Elections &amp; Bylaws, Website Dev., Council Sponsored Events, Membership, and Publicity (communications).<\/p>\n<p>The Community Council of Lehigh Acres has been in existence for well over 50 years, and as a whole, are comprised approximately 40 individuals. Half of those are being &#8220;appointed&#8221; members from various civic and social functions (i.e. the water department, the veterans&#8217; association, the transportation department of Lee County to name only a few of the appointed seats).
