\"\"East County Water Control District is charge of most culverts in Lehigh Acres; during a yearly inspection the engineers from the ECWCD found that the culvert under Homestead Rd near Bank of America and Beth Stacey Blvd was in need of repair or replacement. But the engineers know if they dug up and replaced the culvert there be issues with fiber optic lines, water and sewer lines and even weeks of detouring traffic around that construction zone.<\/p>\n

ECWCD has found a new liner system from DuroMaxx,\u00a0steel reinforced polyethylene pipe. This reinforced polyethylene pipe is inserted into the old pipe then concrete in place. This new system is less expensive and should last for another 50 years. And according to David Lindsay the Executive Director of ECWCD, staff can do 65 percent of the work which in turn saves taxpayers money.<\/p>\n
