When March 17 rolls around, get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with a family-friendly party that celebrates the luck o’ the Irish.<\/p>\n

Set the scene for the party with green light bulbs or strings of green holiday lights.<\/p>\n

Inflate green, white and gold balloons filled with small candies and have guests pop them to get their treats.<\/p>\n

Hang streamers in rainbow colors.<\/p>\n

Dress your house in shades of the classic St. Patty’s Day hue:<\/p>\n

Create simple candleholders <\/strong>by hollowing out green apples and artichokes.<\/p>\n

Place shamrocks <\/strong>in small flowerpots.<\/p>\n

Order centerpieces <\/strong>with green-and-white plants such as white roses, white tulips or fern fronds from your neighborhood Publix.<\/p>\n

Before the party, hide a large black pot filled with chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil. When guests arrive, send them on a treasure hunt to find the pot of gold. Or scatter the wrapped chocolate coins around the house and see who can find the most.<\/p>\n

Draw four-leaf clovers and other Irish-inspired designs on children’s cheeks with face paint.<\/p>\n

Invite each guest to bring a plain, light-color T-shirt to decorate with fabric paints. This project requires extra time, so do it at the beginning of the party.<\/p>\n

1. Insert a piece of cardboard inside each T-shirt so the paint doesn’t bleed through.<\/p>\n

2. To make the project easier for younger guests, cut shamrocks and other shapes from sponges. Help them dip each sponge into a bowl of paint and apply it to the shirt.<\/p>\n
