{"id":29195,"date":"2014-01-22T13:18:52","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T18:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=29195"},"modified":"2014-01-22T13:18:52","modified_gmt":"2014-01-22T18:18:52","slug":"horse-rescued-from-perilous-predicament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2014\/01\/horse-rescued-from-perilous-predicament\/","title":{"rendered":"Horse Rescued from Perilous Predicament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-29197\" title=\"100_1292\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/100_1292-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/100_1292-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/100_1292-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/>A horse is recuperating today following a brush with death in a muddy pond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\">On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, the Lee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office Agricultural Crimes Unit responded to\u00a06691 Patsy Drive\u00a0in response to a horse stuck in a muddy pond.\u00a0 Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the horse was in need of assistance.\u00a0 A Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Team was quickly assembled consisting of several Lee and Collier County Sheriff&#8217;s deputies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"><!--more-->The horse was stuck in a muddy pond\u00a0approximately eight feet down an embankment.\u00a0 The horse had exhausted itself, was unable to stand, and needed assistance just to keep its head above the cold, muddy water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-29196\" style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\" title=\"100_1320\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/100_1320-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/100_1320-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/100_1320-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\">By utilizing the rescue glide and other rescue equipment, the team was able to pull the horse to dry ground where it eventually walked away under its own power.\u00a0 The horse was given an optimistic prognosis from the on scene veterinarian.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\">Special thanks to Van Roekel &amp; Associates Veterinarians and the Tice Fire Department who also assisted in the rescue.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A horse is recuperating today following a brush with death in a muddy pond.
