A local Pop Warner football coach has traded pacing the sidelines for pacing an 8 x 12 foot jail cell.<\/p>\n
On December 19, 2013, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office intercepted a package with more than 6 lbs of marijuana coming from Washington State. It was set to be delivered to 3031 38th St. SW, Lehigh Acres. Information gained during the investigation led detectives to set up a perimeter in the neighborhood. As the perimeter was being established, detectives observed a suspicious vehicle depart the area quickly. The vehicle approached an intersection and rolled through it without stopping. A traffic stop was initiated. As the deputy approached the vehicle, he was able to smell an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A search located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, David Leon Palmer (DOB 12-22-1980) was detained on a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana. A search warrant was served at the house in Lehigh Acres. The investigation reveals a female had accepted the package at the door.<\/p>\n
Based on information and evidence obtained at the Lehigh Acres residence, a second search warrant was served at David Palmer\u2019s primary residence located at 3635 Pine Oaks Circle #103, Fort Myers. Detectives uncovered an abundance of evidence including marijuana packaged for sale, cocaine and MDMA. Approximately $25,000 cash was recovered from within the house and approximately $4,500 cash was located on Palmer\u2019s person. All cash was seized as well as a brand new 70\u2019 flat screen television.<\/p>\n
According to Sheriff Mike Scott, \u201cThe evidence here clearly indicates that this drug dealing coach is not fit to be in a position of trust and authority with the innocent youth of our community. My team has flagged him with personal fouls and sidelined him to inactive status where I believe he should remain.\u201d<\/p>\n
Palmer was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana under 20 grams and Possession of Marijuana with intent to sell.<\/p>\n
