The first occurred at 8:39 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16th\u00a0at the\u00a0Marathon\u00a0gas station located at\u00a02938 Fowler Street.\u00a0 A male, wearing black coveralls and a black ski mask aggressively approached the clerk with a silver handgun demanding money.\u00a0 The clerk complied and the man fled on foot.\u00a0 The next night, around\u00a09:50 p.m., a man fitting the same physical description, wearing identical clothing, and brandishing a similar gun, entered the Shell\/Lehigh Express at\u00a01626 Meadow Road\u00a0in Lehigh, and ordered both clerks to empty the till and give him all the cash.\u00a0 Despite the fact that multiple witnesses were in the store during both robberies, the suspect reportedly was confident and quick \u2013 each time leaving the store in less than a minute.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are far too many similarities between the two robberies to think that they are not related,\u201d said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. \u201cDetectives from both the Fort Myers Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office have compared notes, and they strongly believe that they\u2019re both looking for the same man.\u00a0 And given the brazen, confident actions of this individual, there remains a strong probability that he\u2019ll do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n
The black coveralls worn in both robberies are unusual in nature, and are believed to be Airforce brand.\u00a0 A photo of the jumpsuit, although in a different color, is attached to this release, as well as surveillance photos from the October 16th\u00a0robbery at theMarathon\u00a0station and the October 17th\u00a0robbery at the Shell station.<\/p>\n
