The\u00a0Deepwater Horizon Court-supervised Settlement Program<\/a>\u00a0is the court-run class action settlement program designed to compensate for losses resulting from the April 20, 2010 oil spill. THE BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Requirement 1:\u00a0 A business or non-profit organization in the covered states and counties.<\/p>\n

Requirement 2:\u00a0 In business during the relevant time frames. (The time frames may vary with the provisions for start-ups and failed businesses)\u00a0Generally, to be eligible, businesses must have conducted activities in the area during the period between April 20, 2010 and April 16, 2012.<\/p>\n

It is important to note the agreement does not require involvement in a tourist related industry. The 1,200+ page settlement agreement defines many ways to qualify.<\/p>\n

GEOGRAPHY COVERED BY THE BP SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Settlement covers all Florida Gulf Coast counties from the panhandle to the Keys, the entire states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and certain coastal counties in eastern Texas. \u00a0When the agreement denotes a county as part of the settlement area, the ENTIRE COUNTY\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/strong>is involved. \u00a0Distance from the Gulf is not a factor in eligibility.<\/p>\n
