The FGCU Eagles Club Advisory Board has announced the creation of the Naples Advisory Committee (NAC) in order to reach a larger audience and stretch awareness and support for FGCU Athletics. The NAC was established by Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh<\/strong> and Board Chairman Brian Rasnick<\/strong> to expand into Naples on the heels of the men\u2019s basketball team\u2019s run to the Sweet 16 and the genesis of \u201cDunk City.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tom Robinson<\/strong>, principal relationship manager at Wells Fargo, was selected by Rasnick to chair the committee. \u201cWe are excited to bring the Sweet 16 to Collier County and help raise awareness around FGCU Athletics,\u201d said Robinson, an Eagles Club board member and Neapolitan. \u201cOur goal is to make FGCU everyone\u2019s hometown team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rasnick\u2019s comments on the origination of the committee included goals for the group, but focused on the advancement of FGCU Athletics and the creation of access to FGCU programs, coaches and student-athletes for both loyal and new supporters south of campus.<\/p>\n

“I am so pleased that Tom Robinson accepted the position of Chairman of the Naples Advisory Committee,\u201d Rasnick said. \u201cWith his knowledge of Naples and numerous relationships, we are expecting great results.”<\/p>\n

The NAC is comprised of 20 professionals in Collier County who will volunteer with the goal of helping expand the FGCU Athletics brand. The group will organize events, support individual or group visits to campus and make introductions between FGCU Athletics and the great sports fans in Collier County.<\/p>\n

Plans to expand the committee structure north into Sarasota County are already under way. The heightened excitement for FGCU Athletics has both Kavanagh and Rasnick believing that bolstering the support system will pay dividends. Through increased fundraising efforts, FGCU will be positioned to continue the successes of its 15 Division-I programs, while retaining talented coaches and support staff and increasing the overall experience for each of its 240 student-athletes.<\/p>\n

Rasnick, who has three kids under the age of 10, confirmed that one of his primary goals for the NAC is to keep some of the most talented youth right here in SWFL, stating, \u201cI want to hear kids from Sarasota to Marco Island saying that they want to go to FGCU when they go to college.\u201d<\/p>\n
