Fortunately for the Eagles, Friday\u2019s performance motivated them to pick up three singles wins over Florida Atlantic Saturday in Orlando.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Earning the Eagles first win was <\/strong><strong>Sarah Means (Wesley Chapel, Fla.\/Wiregrass Ranch HS) <\/strong><strong>as she nearly shutout Catalina Ene with a beautiful 6-1, 6-0 victory. Joining her sister to rack up another FGCU victory was <\/strong><strong>Elizabeth Means (Wesley Chapel, Fla.\/Wiregrass Ranch HS) <\/strong><strong>with a stellar 6-2, 6-3 defeating of Bianca Biglione.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><!--more-->Rounding out the Eagles three straight-set victories to join the sisters in the winner\u2019s circle was <\/strong><strong>Johanna Sterkel (Schwetzingen, Germany\/Carl-Theodor-Schule HS) <\/strong><strong>after putting up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Claire-Mitchel Andrews.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Showing a hard-fought effort and improvement from yesterday were <\/strong><strong>Bettina Botha (Cape Town, South Africa\/De Kuilen HS) <\/strong><strong>and <\/strong><strong>Candela Munoz Giron (Giron Alicante, Spain\/Troy)<\/strong><strong>, but the two ultimately fell short of securing a win, as Botha lost 6-2, 6-4 and Munoz Giron 6-4, 6-3.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Earlier in the day on the doubles court, both pairs from FGCU took their opponents from USF into a tiebreaker, but couldn\u2019t quite clinch the win. The Means sisters battled through the close match before falling 8-7 (10-8), while Botha and Sterkel fell 8-7 (10-7).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cToday we had another opportunity to compete and be challenged,\u201d head coach Courtney Vernon said. \u201cThe girls have a lot of goals that they are working towards, which is great.
