That’s what the guest opinion writer: Larry Kiker said in Saturday’s News-Press.<\/span><\/p>\n I wonder if anyone has told him that he\u00a0IS<\/strong>\u00a0a\u00a0County\u00a0Commissioner.\u00a0\u00a0One would think that a man in that position should have known to get his facts straight before he takes a public position.\u00a0\u00a0He certainly did not worry about the facts or even the truth in Saturday’s guest editorial. Any one can easily obtain the facts, except the commissioner of course!<\/span><\/p>\n FIRST<\/strong>\u00a0\u201caccording to\u00a0his<\/span>\u00a0calculations 11% of the abandoned properties are owned by<\/em>\u00a0banks today\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0In what universe does this man live?\u00a0\u00a0In reality less than 7% of these properties have\u00a0NO<\/strong>\u00a0mortgages. That means more than 93% are either owned by Banks today or have an existing mortgage that’s being serviced by a Bank. That’s just a plain, cold hard fact!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n NEXT<\/strong>\u00a0he states there is\u00a0\u201csufficient concern regarding the legality of such an ordinance\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0The facts are that the county’s own attorneys have provided him on numerous occasions that there are\u00a0NO<\/strong>\u00a0legal problems with the ordinance whatsoever.\u00a0\u00a0Even Fannie Mae has issued a 1,178 page guideline dealing with the maintenance and servicing of these very same properties calling for houses to be secured and lawns to be cut twice a month\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0the banks simply ignore them!<\/span>\u00a0And with more than 100\u00a0Florida\u00a0cities and municipalities already enforcing such an ordinance including\u00a0Fort Myers,\u00a0ALL<\/strong>\u00a0without any problems, he still says there is \u201csufficient concern\u201d.\u00a0Someone get\u00a0a 2×4 and get this man’s attention!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n THEN<\/strong>\u00a0he says\u00a0\u201cthe number of violations is 1\/2 of what they were last year indicating that<\/em>\u00a0some relief has been felt\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0What a great statistic!\u00a0\u00a0With 75 percent\u00a0LESS<\/strong>\u00a0code enforcement officers turning in violations (complements of the county commissioners reducing staff) and with Bobby Stewart specifically directing the remaining officers and the hundreds of citizens who call and report these violations to stop calling and turning them in \u201cbecause we’re not going to deal with these issues now\u201d, does anyone wonder why the total numbers of violations are down?\u00a0\u00a0One doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out why they are less today. But then again no one has ever accused commissioner Kiker of being a rocket scientist.\u00a0\u00a0So I guess it’s OK for him to draw illogical conclusions and write about them! God Bless\u00a0America\u00a0and the free press!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n AND THEN<\/strong>\u00a0he complains about \u201crobo calls encouraging people to support the passage of this ordinance\u201d Calls made to voters I\u2019m sure!\u00a0\u00a0If I remember correctly the Sugar Industry spent over $800,000 making mailings and\u00a0calling<\/span>\u00a0these same voters asking them\u00a0NOT<\/strong>\u00a0to vote for Ray Judah!\u00a0\u00a0EURIKA!<\/strong>\u00a0So that’s how Commissioner Kiker got elected!\u00a0\u00a0Those nasty robo calls!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n I could continue to present facts disproving\u00a0his other statements, but your readers\u00a0ARE<\/strong>\u00a0smarter than\u00a0a fifth grader and I\u2019m certain they can see what is going on here.\u00a0\u00a0This commissioner has no idea of what is real, what is fact, what is fiction, and what is a bunch of\u00a0MALARKEY<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0And that’s very sad.<\/span><\/p>\n Of course, this is just one man’s opinion, who would like to thank Joe\u00a0Friday\u00a0star of\u00a0 Dragnet who said\u00a0\u00a0in every episode\u00a0\u201cJust the facts man just the facts\u201d!<\/span><\/p>\n Rick Anglickis a 50 year resident of Lehigh Acres.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Guest Editorial: That’s what the guest opinion writer: Larry Kiker said in Saturday’s News-Press.
