Church joined FGCU as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communication on Monday, Sept. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Church will serve as the primary media contact for FGCU\u2019s women\u2019s basketball, women\u2019s golf, softball, volleyball and sand volleyball teams. She will also be responsible for the department\u2019s graphic design output and will assist in video production and social media efforts.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Stanhope, N.J., Church spent the past two years with Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communication. She spent the year prior as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at FDU.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored and excited to join the athletic department at FGCU,\u201d explained Church. \u201cI have admired the way this group works together and strives to continue its success. I am eager to be part of such a strong system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->During the 2012-13 academic year, Church served as the primary media contact for the Knights\u2019 men\u2019s basketball, cross country, women\u2019s bowling, women\u2019s soccer, softball, track and field and women\u2019s volleyball programs. She has previous experience with women\u2019s basketball, golf and fencing.<\/p>\n<p>While at FDU, Church spearheaded the media campaign to publicize two-time women\u2019s bowling national player of the year, Danielle McEwan. McEwan also earned three Northeast Conference Player of the Year awards in that time span and was the lone representative of the United States on the world stage.<\/p>\n<p>In three years, Church\u2019s efforts resulted in three individuals earning NEC Player of the Year honors, two athletes named NEC Rookie of the Year, a two-time national coach of the year and a dozen all-conference selections. Church also aided the women\u2019s bowling program in three NCAA National Collegiate tournaments, including the 2012 NCAA National Championship final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the beginning of the hiring process, Jamie\u2019s professionalism, excitement and plan for the future of FGCU athletics set her apart from a strong field,\u201d\u00a0<strong>Jason MacBain<\/strong>, Director of Athletics Communication, said. \u201cHer experience, attention to detail and creative approach to communication has prepared her well to help continue to expand the FGCU expand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Church was instrumental in the startup of FDU\u2019s social media efforts and the Knights\u2019 live video streaming initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Church is a 2010 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College where she completed a bachelor\u2019s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Communication Studies. She earned a Master\u2019s of Sports Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in May 2013.<\/p>\n<p><em>The FGCU Eagles are proud to be Southwest Florida\u2019s Hometown Team and part of the Atlantic Sun Conference with six men\u2019s and nine women\u2019s Division-I intercollegiate programs.
