Freshman Tabby Tindell<\/strong> (Ocala, Fla.\/Trinity Catholic HS) <\/strong>became the first FGCU women\u2019s soccer player to earn Player of the Week honors this season when the Atlantic Sun Conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

The award comes on the heels of Tindell\u2019s <\/strong>record-setting, four-goal performance opposite Idaho State in the University of Hawai\u2019i Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic on Sunday. She also registered a game-winning assist in the Eagles\u2019 1-0 win over Portland State in the same event on Friday to give her nine points for the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

The four goals are the most ever by an FGCU freshman in a single game. They are also the second-most in program history. Junior transfer Courtney Eppleman\u2019s five goals in FGCU\u2019s first-ever Division I match in August 2007 is the mark Tindell was chasing. Her eight points are also a freshman record and second only to Eppleman\u2019s 10.<\/span><\/p>\n

The forward tallied her first goal in the 13th minute on a penalty kick and then exploded early in the second half. She scored her second goal just 29 seconds into the second half and completed her hat trick just minutes later at the 46:53 mark. Her fourth goal came in the 54th minute. She would exit the game after her final tally.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tindell recorded the first FGCU hat trick since junior Shannen Wacker<\/strong> (Parker Colo.\/Ponderosa HS)<\/strong> last year against Northern Kentucky. The hat trick is just the fourth in FGCU history and second in a non-conference game. In addition to Tindell, Wacker and Eppleman, Katie Donnellan recorded three goals versus USC Upstate in October 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tindell\u2019s team-leading six goals this season have her tied for eighth with Olivia Elias (2011), Casey Lademann (2008) and Shea Rhoney (2012) for the most goals in single season history. Lindsay Haw (2007) and Wacker (2012) currently hold the record with 11.<\/span><\/p>\n

After losing its season opener at then-No. 9 Florida by allowing two goals in the final 10 minutes, the Eagles are unbeaten in their last six games, going 5-0-1 in that stretch against three teams picked to win either their conference or division of their conference, and a 2-1 win over Mississippi State.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Eagles will return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. opposite Memphis at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The program has not lost a game at home this season nor have they surrendered a result at The Nest since Aug. 19, 2012 \u2013 a streak of 13 straight unbeaten \u2013 when it fell at the hands of then-No. 12 UCF, 4-0.<\/span><\/p>\n
