{"id":26119,"date":"2013-09-10T11:57:40","date_gmt":"2013-09-10T15:57:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/?p=26119"},"modified":"2013-09-10T11:57:40","modified_gmt":"2013-09-10T15:57:40","slug":"lee-county-commissioners-hire-new-county-attorney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/2013\/09\/lee-county-commissioners-hire-new-county-attorney\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee County Commissioners <br>Hire New County Attorney"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_26120\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26120\" style=\"width: 112px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-26120 \" title=\"Richard Wesch\" src=\"http:\/\/thelehighacresgazette.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Richard-Wesch.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"112\" height=\"168\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Richard Wesch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Richard Wesch of Hernando was selected Tuesday as the next Lee County Attorney after Lee County Commissioners voted 5-0 to enter into a contract with him.<\/p>\n<p>Wesch\u2019s contract as Citrus County Attorney requires he give 30-days notice; his start date in Lee County is slated for mid-October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pleased that in working with Richard we were able to come to an agreement on an equitable compensation package that does not include a severance pay out,\u201d Commission Chairman Cecil Pendergrass said. \u201cI look forward to bringing Richard on board and feel that his diverse experience will give him a unique perspective on the issues facing Lee County.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Wesch has a 26-year legal career as a private attorney, private in-house counsel, assistant county attorney, assistant county administrator, county administrator and sheriff\u2019s office general counsel. He has been Citrus County Attorney since 2010.<\/p>\n<p>He holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from University of Central Florida and a law degree from University of Florida. He was born in Long Island, N.Y., and moved to Citrus County in Central Florida at age 8. He and his wife of 24 years, Diane, have two sons \u2014 one a high school senior and the other a freshman at Florida Gulf Coast University.<\/p>\n<p>Wesch replaces Interim County Attorney Andrea Fraser. He\u2019s the third new hire for Lee County Commissioners this summer.
