Parents, family, and guests shared the excitement at each school as the names were announced. Special Kiwanis guest presenters bestowed certificates and scholarship medals to each of the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0Alva\u00a0Middle School, Kiwanis Past President Brenda Fallon presented the awards to Jade Abrams and to Anthony Donato. Each student received a scholarship award of $250.00 which could \u201cGROW\u201d by an additional $1000 during their high school years.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->At\u00a0Tortuga\u00a0Preserve\u00a0Elementary School, Kiwanis member Carrie Chase and K-Kids Faculty Advisor Joyce Shaver presented awards to Isabella Cruz-Garcia and to Dariona Fleming. Each student received a scholarship award of $250.00 which could \u201cGROW\u201d by an additional $1750.00 during their high school years.<\/p>\n<p>Veterans\u00a0Park\u00a0Academy\u00a0for the Arts found current Kiwanis Foundation Executive Director Damon Shelor and Builders Club Faculty Advisor Clearie Dwyer presenting awards to Titianna Collins and Brett Wentela. Each student received a scholarship award of $250.00 which could \u201cGROW\u201d by an additional $1000 during their high school years.<\/p>\n<p>While at\u00a0Sunshine\u00a0Elementary school, current Kiwanis Club President Bruce Boyd and K- Kids Faculty Sponsor Rose Davis presented awards to Christian N. Holsendolph and to Hope Layport. . Each student received a scholarship award of $250.00 which could \u201cGROW\u201d by an additional $1750.00 during their high school years making their scholarship worth $2,000.00.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, at\u00a0Lehigh\u00a0Acres\u00a0Middle School, Past President Brenda Fallon presented awards to Christopher Valentine and to Shelby Knable. Each student received a scholarship award of $250.00 which could \u201cGROW\u201d by an additional $1000 during their high school years.<\/p>\n<p>Rick Anglickis, Scholarship chairman for the club said, \u201cKiwanis Service Leadership Programs are established in elementary schools (K-Kids), middle schools (Builders Club), and in high schools (Key Clubs and AKtion Clubs). \u201cGrowable\u201d scholarship winners each have volunteered a minimum of 100 community service hours during the school year. We hope to have clubs available in every Lehigh Acres of school by 2015.\u00a0\u00a0The only thing holding us back is getting enough Kiwanis Advisers and Faculty Sponsor&#8217;s which are required by Kiwanis International.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At five different elementary school award programs the Kiwanis Club of Lehigh Acres recognized ten students for outstanding community service for 2013.
