The School District of Lee County has received notice from the Florida Department of Education that of the 50,000 students tested in the District this year, 438 students (339 District students and 99 Charter students) have received a perfect score on an FCAT 2.0 subject area test or End of Course (EOC) exam.<\/p>\n
Personalized certificates with the student\u2019s name and Governor Rick Scott\u2019s signature are being forwarded to schools this week.<\/p>\n
Students achieving a level 3 or above on an FCAT 2.0 subject area test or End of Course exam can also expect to receive a congratulatory letter from Governor Scott. The FCAT 2.0 included subject tests in Reading, Math, Science, and Writing; while the End of Course exams covered Geometry, Biology, Algebra and U.S. History.<\/p>\n
Though the District has not received a breakdown of perfect scores by subject area, District officials opened just a few sealed certificates in order to provide for student comment:<\/p>\n
Christopher Valentine<\/strong>, an 8th grader at\u00a0Lehigh Acres Middle School<\/strong>, earned a perfect score in two subjects \u2013 Science and Writing.<\/p>\n The state average for students scoring at level 3-5 for Science is 47% and Writing is 54%. Tyler Millis<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Dunbar High School<\/strong>\u00a0achieved a perfect score on the Geometry End of Course exam.
