Update:\u00a0The Special Operations Unit responded and subsequently made entry into the home. Inside they discovered Romie Franklin Jr., (DOB 10-28-62) and Laverne James (DOB 4-13-65) both deceased.<\/p>\n

A death investigation is underway at\u00a0216 Fireside Court<\/strong><\/a>in Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n

Deputies got a call at 8:51 p.m. Monday night. One person was shot and taken to the hospital, but that person’s condition is unknown at this time.<\/p>\n

Deputies believed there may have been hostages in the home and were treating this as a barricade situation until early this morning.<\/p>\n

A SWAT team and over 35 deputies were at the scene trying to negotiate with the suspect. SWAT left around 12:30 a.m. and crime investigators arrived around 3 a.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit confirmed around 5 a.m. that two people are dead.<\/p>\n
