He moved to Lehigh Acres about 15 years ago. He was development director at Southwest Florida Symphony prior to going to work for the Chamber in 2002. His tenure with the Chamber lasted until his retirement in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Conover was a strong and enthusiastic advocate for the community, according to Rae Nicely, executive director of Lehigh Community Services. A talented writer, he wrote endless letters to local and government officials to improve Lehigh Acres. As a Lehigh Community Services board member the past three years, he worked tirelessly on special events to generate income to help the needy.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Survivors include Bobby McGowan, his partner of 26 years; son, Jeff Conover and daughter-in-law Alice; son Gerrett Conover; and two grandchildren, Christiaan Conover and Cashin Conover; and niece, Suzy, of Lehigh Acres.<\/p>\n<p>Conover declined a memorial service. His giving, compassion, contributions and humor will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n<p>His family wishes to expresses its gratitude to Hope Hospice and Lehigh Regional Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, Ollie\u2019s wish is for donations to be given to Lehigh Community Services, 201 Plaza Drive, Suite 3, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
